Shuko was one of the secret tools and weapons of the Togakure of ninjutsu. It consists of two leather loops, on that is slid onto the wrist and another that was slid onto the hand, they are joined by a leather strap and the top one has curved spikes facing outward. They are usually used in pairs.

They were used to aid climbing, to fight against armed opponents and to mark surfaces to leave messages for others to read. Shuko were designed with utility and concealment in mind. Their small size and flexibility make them easy to hide while disguised. The spikes on the palms could be used not only to climb but also to block and disarm armed opponents in combat. The shuko were also used in combat against unarmed opponents.
